The search for non-harmful and eco-friendly cosmetics continues. I am still very happy with the Humphreys Daily Moisturizer I posted about last month so the facial moisturizer hunt is over! Which has allowed me to focus on find inga good face wash that costs $10 or less...which has been a struggle. So many of facial soaps contain parabens, perfumes, and other toxic chemicals. My husband recommended I try using castile soap, which is made from vegetable. But I found that this very viscous product made cleansing difficult as it won't stay put in your palm!

Well, my brilliant husband came up with a solution for that problem too. We had an empty foaming soap pump (a Method product from target, but you can buy one like this from Amazon and other retailers) which we refilled with castile soap. The foamer worked like a charm and the once liquid soap is dispensed in a foamy lather! Just a few pumps is enough to wash your face. Castile soap gets your skin squeaky clean and it is non-drying. One of the great things about castile soap is you can use it for body wash, shampoo and household cleaning. I love a multipurpose product as it eliminates "stuff" which I am constantly trying to keep out of my home!
Although there are many brands to choose from, I really like Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap which has a variety of scents (including citrus, lavender and peppermint) and can be found in lots of places--Whole Foods, Target, etc. There is a more mild version for babies too. A 16 oz bottle costs around $10 and will last for months. Check out the Dr. Bronner website for lots of great information, including the 18 different uses of this fabulous product!
