Moving... again.

Well friends, things have been crazy here for us the past few weeks. Two fabulous part-time job opportunities practically fell into my lap and my Minty Green husband and I have decided we will be silly to turn them down. I think the saying goes "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Unfortunately these jobs are back in Portland. So despite the fact we only moved to Tucson a year ago we are packing up and moving back to the land of green, clouds and hippies.

Tucson has been good to us. We have met great people, soaked up lot's of sunshine and gone on great hikes at the base of the mountains only minutes from our house. We will miss the warm mild winters and being able to wear flip flops year round. Most of all, we where we lived for our first wonderful year of marriage.

But we are looking forward to getting back to the family and friends we left behind in Portland as well as our ability to walk to the store and grow food in our backyard! We have lots to look forward to in Portland: new jobs, internships and the huge undertaking of building a GIANT backyard garden with my Minty Green mother-in-law. Hope to get back into the swing of blogging once we get settled and I plan to share my trials and tribulations on becoming an "urban gardener".

This whole experience has made me realize what a wasteful and time/waste-consuming process moving is! Fortunately, we saved all the plastic storage bins I had purchased for moving--money well spent for sure. But we once again had to purchase more boxes, tape and bubble wrap. We were able to snag a few free boxes from Goodwill, but I was unable to find some to "recycle" on either Craiglist or Freecycle.

What are your moving/packing tips? Have any ways to cut corners and save some trees??
